I would like to suggest that we get 100 points for every 10 anagrams we get instead of just 100 points for at least 10 anagrams. In other words, if we got 100 anagrams,m then we get 1000 points.
oh that is a very good suggestion:). all for that.
I concur. But what if we find like 95 anagrams? Is that 900 or 1000 points?
It'd be 900, if you got 100 points for every ten anagrams. Those other five would count toward your next set of ten, but you wouldn't get points for them.
what a great idea. thanks for suggesting that.
Will pass this on to the staff, see if they like it, and if so, if we can get anything done about it.
I agree.
I really like this. :d
We went to the current system to cut down on the rewards people got for just using an anagram generator. It's like our third or fourth scoring system.
I think Admin is right to set the amount to 100, after one finds 10 words. The "cash bonus word" is a nice incentive to keep going, on the chance that one will find it. I do have an unrelated issue, however.
What's with using proper names, lately, as the puzzle? When I use other proper names as candidates, they are not accepted. If you're going to use propers as puzzles, you have to accept proper nouns as candidate words.
Who's with me on this?
Dave Hunt
I disagree with this. What's the judge of whether a certain proper name is allowed or not? The letters in the anagram are really just letters. Random edition doesn't even use a real word, for example. If we accepted every proper name, then just about any combination of letters would be a vlid answer.
Ok,
Let's not allow proper names as the word for which we should find anagrams.
Why does it matter?
I'd like to thank Admin and all the other people who put anagrams up each day. I've been having a wonderful time with the valentine theme. I'm wondering though if the phrase for today could have been "from the bottom of my heart instead of what it is now. I love plays on words, but not when it has to be pornographic. I'll always say, I'm not straight-laced and I love a good sense of humor as much as a lot of people do, but we shouldn't have to be gross. I hope there's still something we can put up about Valentine's day, I mean having the word Valentine in the anagrams.
i think sometimes that the words you want to use arn't in the dictionary.
i can't remember which game it was, but yesterday i was playing a game where the word " latin" was not a valid anagram. however, the word " latino" worked just fine. the letters were in there for both those words to be used, so i don't get it.
i've also had it on other times- and i've heard from people that have used words like " cars", and it won't accept it.
are all the words just chosen at random?. so regardless of if the letters are in their or not, it may not be 1 of the computer's chosen words?
I think the dictionary doesn't know that 'latin' can be an adjective, in addition to being a proper noun.
Ok, if getting points for every 10 words is too easy, how about for every hundred words? That will definitely give incentive to keep playing when finding words gets tougher, because it usually does after you find a couple hundred.
but still that would be too easy for the cheaters to get a lot of points and ther'es quite a handful.
Yeah. that reminds me of the point Admin brought up earlier. Why should you get rewarded for using an anagram generator? it would be different if there was a way to tell who was using one, but as far as I know, there isn't.
I really don't care about the points, I play for fun and I'm pretty good at it. I have never used a generator, and I just don't see the point of doing that. After all when one is used--I mean a generator--one is just keying in words! Actually I am told that people just cut and paste them in, and I believe that could be true. How does anyone have fun doing that?
some people probably don't wanna use energy to think, which is why they use anagram generators. that's one of any other possible reasons, at least.
Ya, I could see if there was money involved, it would be more tempting but I've never understood the people that do it just to be on the top of the list. Big deal.
I make my own little challenges, like finding only the words with the minimum number of letters. Where anagramming is concerned, I'll always be a bottom, I guess. LOL.
Yikes.
